Make sure your visit includes walks or a cycle to or around one or more of the villages of Chalk, Cobham, Higham, Luddesdown, Meopham, Shorne and Vigo. In these villages you can absorb the peace of an ancient country church or enjoy a drink in one of many historic pubs.
The Area of Outstanding Natural beauty (AONB) comprises locally distinctive villages, unique and precious wildlife and sites of historic and cultural interest.
Our countryside offers stunning views of the Thames Estuary and Marshes with a visit to Shorne Marshes to the east of Gravesend. You can access Shorne Marshes via the Saxon Shore Way, which offers a walk along the Thames from Gravesend or Cliffe Pools. Cyclists can also visit the Shorne Marshes nature reserve using the Sustrans track, which runs alongside the Thames & Medway Canal to the south of the reserve.
