Artist Scott Cooper brings a number of art installations to the shop windows of Gravesham High Street.

Scott writes:

“The work I am producing for the Light Festival is based upon the theme of ‘Ships of the Thames’.

I intend to give the viewer a snapshot of different aspects of vessels that have travelled past Gravesend over the years.

These images will be drawn onto concave canvases with accompanying information and illuminated from within.

The installations are designed to merge both fine art and Gravesend’s history and will be placed in shop windows on a trail through Gravesend High Street.”

Working with diverse mediums including acrylics, pencils, and charcoal, as well as some more obscure items such as coffee, dirt, and building materials, Scott is inspired by repurposing everyday items.

He is also involved in a short ‘make and do’ online film on how to make a lantern to bring to the Light Festival, from recyclable materials found in your home.
