When I left school after ‘A’ levels I went to train as a newspaper reporter. After a year on the job, I succumbed to the better pay and conditions of local government and worked in housing for nearly fifteen years. I tried a few different things after that but nothing really suited until I found my real vocation in life – tour guiding and public speaking!
I’ve been a qualified guide for over twelve years now and am a member of the Clerkenwell and Islington Guide Association and the Greenwich Tour Guides’ Association. Most of my current guiding takes place in Greenwich where I also work part-time for the Tourist Information Centre.
I do a range of illustrated talks to community groups all over south London and Kent, the subjects varying from Greenwich, the Old Kent Road, the History and Mystery of Playing Cards, Saucy Seaside Postcards and the Story Behind Your Cuppa to name but a few.
I really enjoy researching and putting together new walks and talks and, of course, meeting so many new people along the way.
