All welcome to a colourful ‘warts and all’ account of what it was like to be a medieval pilgrim, based on the latest historical evidence. Including the Pilgrims Way journey to Canterbury, including the pilgrim route past Gravesend, and a small display of pilgrim-related artefacts.
The speaker, Martin Crowther, has worked in Kent heritage for over 20 years, including learning and outreach roles for Canterbury Museums and at Canterbury Cathedral. Martin is now the Engagement Officer at Dover’s Historic Maison Dieu which opened as a pilgrim hospital in circa 1200.
