The INspire Higham is a major fundraising project – the oak shingles are falling off the spire. This is due to weather and water damage, plus some pesky little beetles have been hard at work doing some damage. The shingles need to be replaced and significant repairs to the timbers in the spire must be carried out, along with some repairs to the roof which are due to general aging. In addition to the general repairs The INspire Higham Project is aiming to include improvements to the church which will support increased use. Options include improved lighting and toilet facilities.
The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) who look after over 300 churches across the country are working hard to raise funding for these works – through bids for grants.Locally, The Friends of St Mary’s Group have already contributed £3500 in 2018 towards The INspire Higham Project – this amount came from the funds raised from events held in the church.
