Filaments Arts Collective are five Kent based contemporary artists – Elizabeth Burman, Karen Crosby, Rosie James, Ruth Payne and Linda Simon. Initially formed in 2020 with the idea of organising a two-night light event of installation, sculpture and projections, they have since organised two light events at the historic medieval church of St Mary’s in Burham. Both drew in a lot of people, both locally and from further afield in Kent. More recently they were commissioned by LV21 to contribute to their ‘Winter Gathering’ event at Ebbsfleet in 2020 and to produce bespoke work for ‘SILTings’: a creative programme of events held during the Estuary Festival Associate programme in 2021.
Light and Thread in St George’s Arts Centre is a collection of light installations and digital projections made from textiles, thread and paper. It will show both small and large scale work ranging from the intimate to the bold. As with their previous events they will be creating a magical and interactive experience which will appeal to both the artistic community and non-artists alike.
Drop in and meet the artists from 4pm – 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday, take a selfie and interact with the installations as part of the Light Event.
