Ebbsfleet Garden City Manifesto Flags and Hand Print Wall are currently on display at Gravesend Library until 28 April. They were created as part of This Must Be the Place project by Cement Fields exploring the plans for a new park in Alkerden, in a new garden city in Ebbsfleet.
Ebbsfleet Garden City Manifesto flags were made with students from the Ebbsfleet Academy and Art & Design course at North Kent College during workshops with artist Katrin Albrecht in March 2022 reflecting on their proposals for the park.
Students at Ebbsfleet Academy were also asked to create ideas for the public space that were inspiring for the whole community. One of the designs, The Hand Print Wall by Precious Othieno, was realised for our pop-up at Ebbsfleet Fusion Festival in July 2022. It invited new Ebbsfleet residents to record an outline of their hand together with a name and an optional message for others to find. About 600 people took part.
