Gravesend for the first time are involved with the Estuary Festival 2016 – sixteen days of Art, Literature, Music and Film curated in response to the spectacular Thames Estuary. A mix of new and existing works pull together powerful themes resonant to the place, its landscape, history and communities. Presented in significant, historic and unusual venues along the 40 miles of Essex and Kent shoreline.
Gravesend will be hosting a number of events including:
- LV21 – The spectacular Light Vessel LV21 is moored up alongside Gravesend Town Pier for the duration of Estuary 2016, to present a mix of art, workshops, music and film on board.
- Cut from the Same Cloth Exhibition – Artist Katrin Albrecht has created a brand new work, Cut From the Same Cloth.The work consists of 11 flags made up from 28 western nations flags, together with the flags of Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. These are beautiful displayed along Gravesend High Street.
- Downriver by James Judge – An exhibition at the Blake Gallery including a number of works from his current and ongoing series of paintings that document the industrial Thames at Gravesend and Tilbury.
