Gravesend's Cold War bunker is located within Woodlands park and was originally known as Civil Defence Region 6. The bunker was an underground command post, built in 1954, from which Gravesend's rescue and emergency services were to be co-ordinated in the event of a nuclear attack. Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. The Chinese year begins on 5th February 2019. Celebrations can normally last for up to two weeks. The Lion will be woken at 11am on Community Square, before receiving traditional Chinese leaves from the Mayor of Gravesham. the Lion will make its way across the square before moving into the Woodville where you are invited to join us for some traditional Chinese entertainment.
