Would you like to be a part of creating artwork and interpretation within the gardens?
St Andrew’s Gardens is being redesigned with the local community at its heart. Our aim is to create a space that truly feels part of Gravesend, shaped by local people, culture, and shared history. Artwork and interpretation will help connect the gardens to their surroundings, taking inspiration from the River Thames and the important role it has played in the town’s story.
We are exploring ways to include artwork throughout the gardens. This could include engraved or inlaid details such as patterns, pictures, or words set into surfaces and seating, as well as larger features such as a mural or sculpture.
We will be running a series of creative workshops and inviting local community groups and individuals to help inspire the artwork in the gardens. Local knowledge, memories, stories, ideas, and creative responses will help guide the final designs.
Your ideas could relate to local history, maritime heritage, personal experiences, symbols, words, or images. We would love to hear from you!
Come along on your own or as part of a local group and get creative. Join a workshop and help shape St Andrew’s Gardens.
